Roundworm-induced Intestinal Obstruction
【Differential Diagnosis】Roundworm accumulation blocks the intestinal cavity, causing stagnation and obstruction.
【Treatment Principle】Purge internally, calm roundworms, relieve pain.
【Formula Name】Wumei Chengqi Tang (Chinese Plum and Rhubarb Decoction).
【Composition】Rhubarb 9–15g (added later), Mirabilite 6–9g (dissolved), Magnolia Bark 6g, Citrus Aurantium 6g, Chinese Plum 6g, Sichuan Pepper 2g, Coptis 3g.
【Usage】Decoct and take orally, one dose per day, twice daily. If no improvement or no bowel movement occurs within 4–6 hours after first dose, another dose may be taken. It can also be administered via enema: decoct one dose to yield 300–500ml. For children under 5 years old, administer 300ml; for those over 5, 500ml. If vomiting is mild and abdominal distension is not severe, patients can take orally directly without gastric tube insertion. Otherwise, a gastric tube should be inserted—first for gastrointestinal decompression, second for easier administration of herbal medicine.
